YOUTH BOARD OF CYPRUS

The Youth Board of Cyprus was established by virtue of Law 33(1)/94 as a public legal entity, unanimously enacted by the House of Representatives in April 1994. Its first Administrative Board was appointed in June 1994, offering various opportunities to young people for active participation in society, both in Cyprus and abroad.

The Youth Board of Cyprus has mainly an advisory role towards the government but it also realises several youth related programmes which are approved by the Council of Ministers. Due to its advisory role, the Youth Board submits to the Council of Ministers through the Minister of Education and Culture, who acts as the liaison between the two, proposals and suggestions for the establishment of a holistic and specialised youth policy which enhances the further promotion of its objectives. Its objectives focus on:

  • The promotion of progress and prosperity for all the young people of Cyprus.
  • The enhancement of young people’s and their organisation’s active participation in the social, economic and cultural development of their local community and our country in general.
  • The promotion of a positive, healthy lifestyle through the youth’s engagement in various cultural and also entertaining activities and lastly.
  • Providing effective solutions to current youth problems.
